Heart's Desire New

Swans, those most delicate of snow-white birds, mate for life. This pair shows their enduring love with an embrace and heart-shaped necks. Their passion is such that they are oblivious to their two chicks underfoot! A frog can be seen on the interior, since he has nowhere to sit on the exterior of the box. Beside him is a sign that reads “Where’s Huck & Andre?” During the carving process, the BBC was tracking two migratory swans, named Huc and Andrei, from Siberia to their wintering grounds in Britain. Peter admits the names are spelled wrong because he got them from listening to the radio. The “M” under one webbed foot stands for Peter and Andrea Calvesbert’s daughter Millie and the “S” stands for their son Sam.

Mrs. Barton's Cooker New

Mrs. Bloomsbury Barton returned tipsy, elated, but a little troubled by her visit to her old friend Margot Flounder. What troubled Mrs. B-B was that the evening drinkies had been a pretence for Margot to show off her spectacular new kitchen. Oneupmanship had always been a large part of events in her social circles, so Mrs. B-B saw this as a challenge. A few days later laborers arrived, and within an hour, the cupboards and tables had been reduced to matchwood. Less easy to dispose of was the fine old stove. Not a functioning trendy object, it definitely had to go. It was decided it would be stored, along with the other cast-offs. When finally deposited, the exhausted laborers noticed none of the furry inhabitants, and apart from a slightly musty catty smell they would have sworn the place was deserted. It was not long before the regulars emerged to view the new acquisition. As cats chased dogs around and around the stove, sparks flew in all respects. Within this limited edition box figurine are seahorses and the inscription Cadgwith, an idyllic and remote Cornish fishing village where sculptor David Lawrence and his family spend many a hot summer day, snorkeling, eating crabs, walking along the cliffs and drinking a strong Cornish beer. Mrs. Barton's Upright New

To look at her, in her summer hat and elegant dress and pearls, you would never have believed that Mrs. Bloomsbury Barton came from humble stock. After the demise of her less fortunate brother Bertie, she inherited his old piano. While she was sentimental enough to keep it, Mrs. B-B would not be caught dead with an “upright” in the house (over the years she had become a “grand” sort of girl), so she had it moved “downstairs”. It is here where the cats take over and the fun begins. At the back of this limited edition box figurine we see the young mice watching a version of the traditional English village entertainment “Punch & Judy”. Mr. (Mousy) Punch is about to get his come-uppance at the hands (or teeth) of the Crocodile. Inside we see the artist in the guise of the Statue of Liberty, fiddle in hand, holding some air tickets in the other: North Curry > New York > Seattle. This piece was finished just before the family trip to the 2005 HOP convention in Seattle. “The best vacation ever”, the Lawrences agreed. DL & daughter Rose took their fiddles: the music inside is the first couple of bars of, appropriately enough, the tune “Staten Island”. Artist: David Lawrence Collection Name: Limited Editions Subset Name: Mrs. Barton Series Made In: England Status: Limited Carving Date: 2005 Edition Size: 500 Dimensions (Inches): 6 x 5 x 5

Peter's Rabbits New

Two rabbits + a long time aboard the Ark = lots of rabbits (especially if the only card game they know is strip poker). Here the Ark has parked on Mount Ararat, to the annoyance of the authorities, who have served Noah with a parking violation. Noah has enough on his hands already. All the other animals have left the Ark, including the mice, but he is stuck with an ever-expanding population of bunnies. It is not a problem you need when you are 601 years old. Inside the Ark there is a very sensible rabbit who, after deciding to use protection, is horrified to see the condom machine out of order. Signed and numbered by the artist. Planet Dustbin II New

“Planet Dustbin”, the Small Treasure Jest carved in 2001, was always one of Peter’s favorite creations. For the past several years, he has wanted to work on a larger, more detailed model. Like his earlier version, “Planet Dustbin II” portrays penguins cavorting around the base (South Pole) and polar bears inhabiting the lid (North Pole). On this Large Treasure Jest, a melting snowman symbolizes global warming. Man’s aptitude for polluting the planet is depicted by icons representing Chernobyl, Bhopal, Iraqi oilfields, deforestation, and numerous power stations throughout the world. The seas are littered with some of the largest oil spills over the past 40 years. “60” is the present population of the UK, with its 60 million people contributing to the over-population of the planet. The US has been awarded a first place rosette for being the world’s largest consumer of energy and raw materials. The interior shows a landfill with a delighted herring gull scavenging through the contents. To add a bit of levity to this rare edition of only 200 pieces worldwide, Peter has carved two flatulent sheep atop Australia, the animal kingdom’s more benign contribution to global warming. Artist: Peter Calvesbert Collection Name: Treasure Jest Subset Name: Large Treasure Jest Made In: England Status: Fixed Edition Carving Date: 2006 Release Date: 2/5/2007 In Store Date: 5/15/2007 Retirement Date: Edition Size: 200 Category: Box Figurine Dimensions (Inches): 4 x 4 x 5.75

Quarles' Reef (Version 1) New

Master Carver Peter Calvesbert carved “Quarles’ Reef” in tribute to HK collector Phyllis Quarles. Seahorses, mermaids and ladybugs are included in the model, as these were some of her favorite subjects. The names of her two Italian Greyhounds, Dino and Tony, are inscribed on the lid. The inscription “500” refers to the first 500 special subdued colorway pieces, with 20% of proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. “35” refers to the number of seahorse species and the size of the largest (35 cm). Under the Canopy New

The black heron is probably best known for its unusual feeding technique. It stands in shallow water and then, using its wings, forms an umbrella over its body. It is believed that fish are attracted to the shade created by the umbrella. In Madagascar, the black heron is called “Lomba Comba” which means “he who fishes indoors.” The interior of “Under The Canopy” shows a fish fighting back, Clint Eastwood style.
