Alphonse
Mucha

|
Alphonse Mucha, who was born in Moravia in 1860 and died in
Prague in 1939, is considered one of the most important representatives
of Art Nouveau, especially because of his billboard art. Mucha
studied in Munich, Vienna and Paris, where he was confronted
with Art Nouveau.

Auguste
Renoir

|
The history of art would not be complete without the works of
the painter, artists and sculptor Auguste (Pierre A.) Renoir
(b1841 in Limoges, d1919 in Cagnes near Nice). After studying
as a porcelain painter, Renoir entered Gleyre's studio in 1861.
Renoir started work in the French Realist tradition (Courbet)
and was considered a Impressionist until the mid 1870s. His
paintings are full of charm and light. |
Claude
Monet
|
Claude Monet, French Impressionist (b 1840 in Paris, d1926 in
Giverny), was the initiator, leader and constant advocator of
the Impressionist technique. He founded the Impressionist movement,
which proved ground-breaking around the turn of the century,
with his picture " Impression, soleil levant", which
was first exhibited in 1874 to great deal of criticism. |
Gustav
Klimt

|
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), who was born in Vienna, is seen as
one of the main protagonists of art nouveau. Klimt's best work
is considered to have been in his heyday of the ' Vienna Secession'
(the years between 1998 and 1905), of which Klimt was a founding
member and the first president. |
Vincent
van Gogh

|
The paintings of Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890)
are characterized by their bold colors and
broad brushstrokes. The painter's life was plagued by affairs,
failed relationships and psychological crisis,
and ended when he took his own life in July 1890. |
